What is PRP Hair Treatment?

PRP is a concentrated source of autologous platelets found in your own blood. These platelets contain potent growth factors that are essential for tissue repair and regeneration.

When injected into the scalp, PRP:

Wakes Up Follicles: Shifts hair follicles from a resting phase into an active growth phase.

Increases Blood Flow: Enhances the nutrient supply to the scalp.

Thickens Existing Hair: Increases the diameter of the hair shaft for a fuller appearance.

The Avidan Process: Clinical Excellence at 3 Saint Stephens Place Your journey to thicker hair is handled with the highest medical standards:

The Draw: A small amount of your blood is drawn in our sterile clinical environment.

The Centrifuge: We use a high-speed centrifuge to separate the golden, nutrient-rich plasma from the rest of the blood.

The Injection: Using a fine needle, our licensed medical professionals strategically inject the PRP into the areas of the scalp where thinning is most prominent.

Recovery: There is zero downtime. You can return to your daily Warwick routine immediately following your session.

We prioritize your comfort at Avidan. While you may feel a slight pinching sensation during the blood draw and the scalp injections, we use fine-gauge needles and can apply a topical numbing cream or cooling device to minimize any discomfort.

How long does a typical session take?

The entire process—from the initial blood draw and centrifuge spinning to the injections—takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. It is a perfect "lunchtime" clinical treatment.

Most clients describe the sensation as a quick "tingle" or a brief heat sensation. Modern technology has made the process much more comfortable than in the past, and we can adjust the settings to match your personal comfort level.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair restoration is a journey. For optimal results, we typically recommend a "loading phase" of 3 to 4 treatments, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. After that, a maintenance session every 6 to 12 months helps keep the follicles active.

When will I see results?

Patience is key with PRP. Since we are following the natural growth cycle of your hair, most clients begin to see visible improvement in hair thickness and decreased shedding within 3 to 6 months after their third treatment.
Is PRP better than a hair transplant?

PRP is a non-surgical alternative. While it cannot grow hair on a completely bald scalp where follicles no longer exist, it is incredibly effective for thinning hair and preventing further loss. Many transplant patients also use PRP to improve the health of their newly transplanted grafts.
Who is the ideal candidate for PRP hair treatment?

PRP works best for men and women who are in the early to middle stages of hair thinning. It is most effective for those with active hair follicles that are simply producing thinner, shorter, or weaker hair (miniaturization).

Ideal for: Pattern baldness, thinning at the part or crown, and receding hairlines.

Note: If an area has been completely bald for many years, the follicles may no longer be viable. In your consultation at our Warwick office, we will assess your scalp to ensure you are a good candidate for the procedure.

Is there anything I should avoid after my appointment?

We recommend waiting 24 hours before washing your hair or engaging in heavy exercise that causes excessive sweating. Avoid harsh chemical treatments (like hair dye) for at least 72 hours.

Are there any side effects to PRP Hair Treatment?

Because PRP is derived from your own blood, there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction, rejection, or disease transmission. However, as with any injection-based treatment, you may experience some minor, temporary side effects at the injection site, including:

Mild Swelling: Some patients experience slight puffiness in the forehead or scalp for 24–48 hours.

Tenderness: The scalp may feel a bit tight or "sore" for a day or two, similar to a mild bruise.

Redness or Pinpoint Bruising: Small red spots may appear where the needle entered the skin but typically fade within a few days.

Temporary Headache: A small percentage of clients may experience a mild tension headache immediately following the procedure, which usually resolves with rest.

Pro-Tip: To minimize these effects, we recommend staying very well-hydrated for 48 hours before and after your appointment at our Warwick office.
